Make the reasoning behind each review available to the next one.
Partners bring a history of comparisons to each new opportunity. Some of it is recorded; some stays with individuals. A later review can be stronger when earlier claims, checks and outcomes — including why the team passed — are available together.
Your investment committee decides. We prepare, keep the record and challenge; we do not recommend or score deals into a yes or a no.
What you receive
Supported claims and assumptions, separated. The materials examined against public sources.
Questions and missing evidence for your conversation with the company.
The limits of the assessment, stated in the report, including what could not be verified without access to the company.
Formats and timing
Desk review · normally five working days
Once the materials are complete. We examine them against public sources, separate supported claims from assumptions, and identify the questions and missing evidence for a conversation with the company.
Deep desk review · normally two to three weeks
Adds available company filings, the documented history of founders’ previous companies, a closer comparison with relevant competitors, and checks on the assumptions behind the supplied figures. Unavailable records and limits to verification are listed in the report.
Both are standalone, with timing and a fixed fee agreed before work starts. A review is limited to the agreed materials and sources and does not replace full due diligence or specialist advice. For review work we do not introduce the deal or take a fee contingent on its closing; any relevant relationship or conflict is disclosed before we accept the work. We establish whose decision the review serves; we do not assess whether an investment is suitable for that person.
An example from our own research
In public-source research on an infrastructure investment, a reported ownership stake led us to the company filings and articles of association. That separated three questions: the size of the holding, the right to appoint directors, and the decisions that required both shareholders to be present or to consent. The documents referred to an agreement that was not public, so the full allocation of rights could not be established — and the review said so.
If you want the record kept
We can set up and maintain a system that keeps the reasoning behind reviews and passes available to the next one.
Claimed against verified. Held claim by claim: what was stated, what was checked, the source, and what happened afterwards.
This founder, previously. What they claimed in the last deck you saw from them, and what happened.
Why we passed. The reasoning behind each decline, reviewed on a cycle.
Which claims hold. Across your own history, by segment — a record, not a scoring model.
After the committee. Which questions were raised and dropped, and where the argument turned on who brought the deal rather than on what was in it.
When something changes outside. Your segments, regulators and the capital moving around them, checked against named sources on an agreed schedule. You see which assumption behind a review, a pass or a portfolio discussion has changed.
Committee material. Prepared in a consistent format, with confidence levels attached.
Before operating a system, we agree with your responsible team the data access, approved tools, service expectations, incident reporting, record retention and exit arrangements, including any supplier records your outsourcing framework requires. The system supports your team; it does not certify compliance or transfer your responsibilities to us. Support scope, frequency and a recurring fee are agreed before operation; setup, licences and work outside the agreed scope are identified separately. Your data remains yours.
Limits and next step
Not due diligence, investment advice, a recommendation or a suitability assessment. We do not act as a broker, a placement agent or a fund manager, and we are not a software vendor.
